Grander Designs is an ongoing collaborative video project between contemporary writers and artists instigated and Produced by artist and video editor Myles Painter. Participants in the project have been asked to respond in writing and visual alterations to predetermined sections of the Channel 4 lifestyle program ‘Grand Designs’. The video’s original sequences are not changed, but the resulting tweaks, compositing and subtitles twist the aspirational domesticity of the original program towards narratives that are absurd, sinister and suggestive.
